Crispy Sesame Tofu

I love tofu, because it’s one of the most variable staple ingredients in my kitchen. A great plant based protein, iron and calcium source with a neutral taste. You can make many savory or sweet dishes out of this incredible soy product and now I show you how to make these delicious, crispy sesame tofu bites in just 10 minutes. Enjoy!

Wrap the firm tofu in a kitchen towel and set something heavy on top for a few minutes.

Cube tofu and add to a mixing bowl.

Mix together the marinade ingredients. Sesame seeds, paprika, salt, mustard, soy sauce and lime juice.

Coat tofu cubes with the mixture.

 

 

 

Crispy sesame tofu

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 block (200g) firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • pinch of salt

Method:

  1. Press the tofu wrapped in a kitchen towel.
  2. Cut tofu into cubes.
  3. Whisk together the mustard, soy sauce, lime juice, sesame seeds, paprika and salt.
  4. Coat tofu with the marinade and let set for 5 minutes.
  5. Cook the tofu cubes in a well heated skillet for 5 minutes or until browned on all sides shaking the pan as needed to cook all sides.

 

I served it with mixed spring greens, rice, green peas, fresh pineapple cubes and some extra lime.
